For the International Year of Family Farming 2014FAO and AMARC have joined forces to launch a joint initiative on "Communication and Community Media to advance Family Farming" to promote communication as a driver of development and social change in rural areas.


Focusing on the role of communication for development, community media and ICTs for family farming and rural development, the consultations are open and will last 3 weeks - from 25 August to 12 September, 2014 - hosted by ComDev AsiaOnda Rural and Yenkasa Africa.

The FAO-AMARC campaign aims to raise awareness on the key role played by family farming to eradicate hunger and malnutrition worldwide. It uses community radio to reach and engage directly family farmers and the rural population.
